Starship Yachts will open an office at Lantau Yacht Club, as the club looks forward to growth in 2023

Lantau Yacht Club has confirmed that Starship Yachts, one of Hong Kong’s best-known dealerships and brokerages, will open an office and provide support services at the club’s facilities on Lantau Island.

Apart from yacht sales, Starship Yachts will offer services covering yacht delivery, shipping handling, commissioning and survey service, yacht management and after-sales solutions. Starship joins three other service partners at the Lantau Yacht Club Service Yard: Lodestone Yachts, Marine Service Asia, and Nextwave Yachting, which offers a selection of services for members.

Founded in 1994, Starship Yachts represents Ferretti, Pershing, Itama, Riva, Custom Line, Mochi Craft, and Cranchi. In 2021, Starship Yachts was appointed exclusive dealer for Zodiac Nautic RIBs in Hong Kong. Some of the biggest Ferretti Group yachts have been brought to Asia by Starship Yachts, including a Custom Line Navetta 30, the Ferretti Yacht 920 and most famously, the first Pershing 140, which was sold by Edwin Ho to a Hong Kong client.

The club is anticipating more growth in 2023.

Yacht sales in Hong Kong were dramatically boosted during the period of Covid lockdowns and the club says that they expect more members and yachts to come in the next two years. Club officials said that younger people in Hong Kong are being attracted to the boating lifestyle thanks to pandemic restrictions.

China’s zero-Covid policy is being relaxed dramatically as of December 2022. Lantau Yacht Club officials expect this, combined with easier cross-border yachting, will cause a rise in yachting activity and a boost in demand for its berths.

In 2022, the club recruited a new Head Chef, Lo Chi Sing, who was previously at the Hong Kong Jockey Club and who specialises in deluxe, large-scale catering. The club also recruited a new director of marketing and membership, Alex Lee, who brings experience managing private clubs for luxury hotel brands.

Lantau Yacht Club is the first new marina to open in Hong Kong in over 20 years, and it is the only marina in Hong Kong that can accommodate superyachts up to 100m. In October 2021, the club was awarded the 5 Gold Anchors accreditation from the Marina Industries Association.
