M/Y Triumph is the stunning new 65-metre megayacht recently launched by Italian yard Benetti, which continues to push farther into the world of semi-custom and bespoke builds
Benetti has been building magnificent vessels in Italian yards since 1873 and has adamantly refused to follow fashion, preferring instead to define their own classic style — their latest 65m megayacht is no exception.
MY Triumph was custom built for a private client and while it is based on the enduring Benetti heritage, the visual impact is progressive and daring, with sleek, sculpted exterior styling. The result is striking and unmistakable. The exterior style is the work of Cassetta Yacht Designers, the well-known Italian firm that has successfully given this boat a sense of timeless elegance, free from the constraints of ephemeral trends.
Triumph has a sleek and elegant stern that combines perfectly with the position and length of the decks above, counterpointing the extremely long bow in a combination of proportions that embodies linear elegance.
This courageous design philosophy is one of the principal reasons that Benetti yachts are traditionally associated with so many figures from the celebrity elite. Princess Grace of Monaco was frequently photographed on the Benetti Gabbiano, often with her husband Prince Rainier. Some of those exquisite monochrome images have become symbols of classic chic.
More recently, Lana, the first megayacht over 100m ever launched by Benetti in 2020, caught the eye of megastar couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z, who celebrated Beyoncé’s birthday on board. Their celebration aboard the US$2 million-a-week charter was widely reported in international media.
The attraction to celebrities is hardly surprising, but this stunning new megayacht offers more than just opulence and aesthetics. Triumph is a serious ocean-going vessel, boasting a range of more than 4,700 nautical miles at an impressive cruising speed of 12 knots. This allows an owner based in Hong Kong or Singapore to venture as far as Brisbane on Australia’s Gold Coast, or Porte Galle in Sri Lanka, and all ports in between, with fuel to spare.
Built on one of Benetti’s most successful platforms, the vessel has a highly efficient hull and guarantees silent cruising for long-distance trips in the utmost comfort. The hull design maximizes efficiency and reduces fuel consumption, as well as ensuring excellent handling at sea, remarkable stability, and great manoeuvrability.
The design means that even long ocean passages are undertaken with tranquil elegance and Benetti clients attach great value to the absence of engine noise even at higher speeds. This vessel will master any ocean with quiet and timeless grace. The proud new owner of Triumph is an avid collector of vintage Triumph motorcycles and intends to spend long periods on board with guests while taking advantage of all the generous space, above and below deck.
With this in mind, Triumph offers unprecedented levels of entertainment options. Benetti says that conviviality was the undisputed driver of a design that ensures guests can be accommodated together in most public areas of the vessel.
Starting from the top, the sundeck is characterised by an all-round panoramic view and fitted out with lounge areas and a Jacuzzi. Directly underneath, on the bridge deck, the veranda/gym area is located together with a hybrid indoor/outdoor setting with over 2.4m of headroom inside. This is designed to make it both practical and delightfully airy, equipped with air-conditioning and a lightweight sliding glass door.
The unusually spacious upper deck has a spacious exterior dining area, complete with a full bar, large lounging area which extends to more than 70sqm and a further panoramic lounge that can also be converted to a touch-and-go helipad, if required.
Based on input from the owner, the designers adopted a contemporary, cosmopolitan style that avoids any specific geographical references and chooses refined materials like Crema Marfil stone, Statuary and Amani marble. Not even the smallest detail has been overlooked in terms of interior design. Similarly striking are the loom-woven silk and wool carpets, with a pattern inspired by oriental fabrics depicting the geometrical designs created by sand dunes in the desert.
Some of the most important features include the 130sqm master suite with an adjoining study/lounge and spacious outdoor terrace, the full-beam VIP cabin on the main deck.
“Today, the sea and yachts are a dream to indulge in,” said Azimut|Benetti Group CEO, Marco Valle.
Valle was speaking at the 22nd Benetti Yachtmaster event for industry professionals held against the backdrop of the Venice Carnival in February 2022. While he was referring to Benetti yachts in general, that romantic spirit emanates in Triumph.
It is Valle’s belief that these vessels are about defining personal space and “somewhere to establish physical contact with the outside environment and rediscover the feeling of freedom, which on a boat extends into infinity.”
This philosophy, combined with Benetti’s long-established knowledge as a boutique shipyard for the global elite, is what defines this new magnificent new megayacht.
