Simpson Marine hopes to boost a boat show in Phuket with its participation
Simpson Marine has confirmed its participation in the Thailand International Boat Show (TIBS), scheduled for January 2024 at the Royal Phuket Marina in Thailand. It is the first time that Simpson Marine will exhibit at the TIBS in Phuket. Show organisers have said that the Simpson Marine on-water display will include Sanlorenzo, Bluegame, Beneteau, Lagoon, Aquila and Fairline.
“Simpson Marine has officially committed to attend the Thailand International Boat Show as we are determined to see a successful boat show happening in Phuket again,” said Ewa Stachurska, Group Marketing Director for Simpson Marine. “For many years before the pandemic, we were a strong supporter of a show (in Phuket), which was a great way to start a new year with a full yacht display presenting all our brands and services.”
Stachurska added that Simpson Marine was encouraged to participate thanks to their positive experience at the inaugural Singapore Yachting Festival, which took place in April. “After a very vibrant Singapore Yachting Festival welcomed visitors from all around Asia, we are ready to meet our Thailand-based customers and help them find the right boat. Expect full line-up from Simpson Marine and our team on hand to welcome guests on the docks.”
The Thailand International Boat Show was first announced in 2021 with a show to take place in 2022. That show was ultimately cancelled due to ongoing travel restrictions related to Covid.
“To have such a big industry stalwart as Simpson Marine in the show for January 2024 showcasing 6 boats, confirms that the Thailand International Boat Show is here to stay,” said David Hayes, chairman and CEO of JAND Group, rights holder and organiser of the Thailand International Boat Show. Hayes says that 25% of the available berths have now been sold.
Since the end of Covid restrictions, tourism arrivals to Thailand have risen sharply. A recent Reuters report noted that Thailand had received 9.5 million visitors in the first five months of 2023, compared to 11.2 million visitors for all of 2022. The Tourism Authority of Thailand hopes to have 12 million visitors to Phuket alone in 2023, equivalent to tourism arrivals before the onset of Covid.
