A Villa at Sea

At first glance, one might mistake Focus Yacht Design’s newest creation, MY Scala, for a catamaran. However, the utilitarian design language used in the new yacht concept conceals much of the yacht’s innovation.

The 24-metre wide superstructure of the yacht – dubbed an Ocean Villa Superyacht but the design firm – is perched atop a 60-metre SWATH, which stands for Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull, an innovative hull design that offers unparalleled stability, even in the midst of a storm.

Not only does this yacht possess a captivating underwater form, but it also boasts maritime features that are absent on traditional vessels; in addition to its forward-facing panoramic lounge, the MY Scala also boasts an underwater lounge that makes the most of its impressive beam as well as towering three-metre ceilings, which create a spacious and airy feel.

In fact, the atrium and entrance of the yacht welcomes guests with a ceiling height of over 6.5 meters, creating a grand sense of arrival, while the sundeck, spanning over 400 square meters, serves as a party area complete with a pool and a fully certified helipad.

Designed as a true home on the ocean, MY Scala’s exterior design harmoniously blends elements of maritime aesthetics with those of land architecture. From the outside, the concept yacht favours function over form. However, this focus on the living experience ensures captivating and voluminous living spaces throughout. This includes an expansive beach club with lounges, suites lit with floor-to-ceiling windows, and broad walkways to make access easy and seamless.
