The new Sanlorenzo 73Steel will be the new superyacht flagship for the Italian yard
On September 20, Sanlorenzo announced the sale of a new 73Steel, the largest superyacht yet to be built by the Italian yard. The new flagship is due for delivery in 2026. The deal was finalised with Fraser Yachts, which represented the buyer.
The yard reports that this contract brings to nine the number of steel vessels sold in 2022 so far. Currently, Sanlorenzo has 23 superyachts from 44 to 73 metres under construction.

The new 73Steel will have a diesel-electric propulsion system to reduce emissions and an unconventional layout. Zuccon International Project studio will do the exterior design, while the décor concept is to be “innovative and at times revolutionary”.
Sanlorenzo has embarked on major technical investments as its superyacht business has grown. The company partnered with Siemens Energy to create a set of methanol fuel cells for the Semi-displacement 90, which will reduce emissions. The company has been working on light weight construction techniques.
Sanlorenzo, founded in 1958 by Gianfranco Cecchi and Giuliano Pecchia and now majority owned by Massimo Perotti, is represented in Asia by Simpson Marine. With net revenues of over €580 million in 2021, Sanlorenzo is one of the world’s biggest yacht builders. During its annual press conference at the 2022 Cannes Yachting Festival, Sanlorenzo forecast its net profit to rise 35% to €70 million.
