Dutch custom yacht builder Oceanco has delivered the 109-metre motoryacht Seven Seas, previously known as project Y720.

The 109-metre vessel, which is rumoured to belong to film director Steven Spielberg, was built at the Dutch shipyard’s factory in Zwijndrecht and launched from the Oceanco facilities in Alblasserdam in March 2022.

While many reports have linked the superyacht to the legendary film director, Oceanco is remaining tight-lipped. In 2021, Spielberg sold an 86-metre 2010 Oceanco yacht, also called Seven Seas, to a Canadian billionaire, creating speculation that the new Y720 is a replacement.

Oceanco Seven Seas

Seven Seas is the result of Oceanco’s first collaboration between Sinot Yacht Architecture, which created the exterior and interior, with naval architecture envisioned by Lateral Naval Architects. Molly Isaksen Interiors handled the interior design.

According to the yard, there is an ‘exquisite use’ of natural materials and glass on board, and the owner ‘played an important role’ in the vessel’s design. Seven Seas is also the first LY3-compliant yacht to feature a marine evacuation system.

Seven Seas is the second delivery of 2023 for Oceanco. It handed 127-metre Koru over to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in spring this year. Earlier this year the yard also revealed a new design, Aeolus, which has a super slim hull shape and can bridge the energy transition to net zero.
