The LYC marina boasts 148 berths ranging from 10m-60m

Hong Kong’s Lantau Yacht Club (LYC) has launched a “yachtcation” package, encouraging yacht owners to enjoy the exclusive facilities at the new marina and club, aboard their own yachts.

“LYC is excited to launch the first-ever ‘yachtcation’ package offered by yacht clubs in Hong Kong,” says Charlotte Ho, director of hospitality marketing and membership of Auberge Hospitality, the hospitality arm of Hong Kong Resort Company Ltd.

“With the recent travel restrictions, many people who used to spend weeks on their yachts overseas during summer now enjoy yachting in Hong Kong,” adds Ho. “This is a great opportunity for them to explore different yachting locations, especially the western and southern waters of Hong Kong. While berthed at LYC, yacht owners can also enjoy all the offerings Discovery Bay can provide, such as beach fun at Tai Pak Beach or the leisurely ambience of a drink at alfresco dining hub D’Deck.”

The “yachtcation” package includes one night of wet berthing at the LYC marina, with a four-course dinner for two and complimentary sparkling wine at Caffè Napoli in LYC, and two complimentary transfers within Discovery Bay. Visitors can also get a 15% discount when booking a spa treatment at the Spa Botanica in Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong hotel, and free use of tennis courts in LYC.

Prices for the package start at HK$2,200 and may vary depending on the size of the yacht, choice of menu and number of nights.

With strict restrictions on travel in place across much of Asia, many in the SAR have turned to pleasure boating to find space and enjoy quality time with family and friends during the last year. The number of pleasure yachts in the city increased by over 580 in 2020 alone, according to figures gathered by LYC.

Opened at the end of August last year, Lantau Yacht Club offers the first set of new, dedicated superyacht berths that have been offered in Hong Kong for decades.

Lantau Yacht Club was completely rebuilt by Hong Kong Resort Company Ltd into a superyacht-focused marina. Executive Chairman of HKRI Victor Cha, a shareholder of the developer and operator, has said that he wishes to turn Lantau Yacht Club into a regional hub for superyacht owners and visitors.

The new marina has begun to host new superyacht arrivals. The Hong Kong-owned Pershing 140, the flagship of the Pershing line, is now based at LYC, as is the new Custom Line Navetta 30, which recently arrived in Hong Kong. The Princess X95 Superfly, a ground-breaking yacht from the UK brand, is now berthed at the club as well.

Mr Metz

Local owner Mr Metz speaks highly of the club

“It’s the best marina in Hong Kong with excellent facilities and supportive staff,” comments local owner Mr Metz, who is a regular visitor to LYC. “Its location also offers the convenience to sail around Lantau where I can stay active in the great waters year-round.”
