The distinctive yacht features a spacious square bow and offers a full upper galley
Italy’s Azimut Yachts held a virtual event last week to showcase its distinctive new 53 Fly.
Penned by Italian designer Alberto Mancini, the superstructure of the 16.78-metre yacht creates the impression of a “floating” flybridge, while the square-shaped bow offers increased room for socialising at the front of the yacht.
The flybridge has a canvas bimini for protection from the elements and features enough seating and space to host a large party of guests. There is also a full upper galley, a feature designed to make the best use of the top deck.
The 53 Fly’s interiors were designed by the Azimut Style office. Monaco-based Mancini, who is known for his design-forward aesthetics, has a longstanding partnership with Azimut and continues to work on the builder’s Flybridge and S collections.
The day area on the 53 Fly is laid out across almost the same level, with the galley near the entrance and the living area separated by just 25 centimetres.
Side windows run uninterrupted, with no uprights, from just beyond the entrance area to the windscreen. This is designed to enhance the sense of airiness in the day area, with plenty of natural light and uninterrupted views.
The propulsion system features two Volvo Penta IPS 950s, keeping the centre of gravity low and reducing the amount of space needed in the engine room. The two engines deliver a top speed of 31 knots and a cruising speed of 27 knots.
Amidships, the master stateroom offers a predominantly full-height space, while the suite features a walk-in wardrobe and generous additional storage. There is a roomy VIP cabin and a third twin-bed cabin, which both offer generous storage.
In the rear section of the flybridge, a versatile up-down table turns the dinette into a second lounge area with an expansive view over the water.
Azimut is currently preparing to launch its new flagship, the 38.2-metre Azimut Grande Trideck. Also designed by Mancini, it is the first three-deck yacht to be built by Azimut. Delivery of the first unit is planned for early 2021.
