The latest creation from the Lürssen yard features an ultra-slim hull shape
Lürssen has launched its latest creation, the 90m Norn, which immediately embarked on her maiden voyage. The owner is a repeat client for Lürssen, having previously sailed a 70m yacht by the yard, which is based in Bremerhaven, Germany.
Norn’s exterior design was by Espen Oeino, who gave the yacht a striking look dominated by flat surfaces, straight lines and angular corners, giving a distinctly naval appearance. The exterior lines borrow from the design idiom that Oeino developed for Silver Yachts’ Bold and Wanderlust. The bow has been designed to add waterline length.
The beam of Norn is just 14.7m against her 90m length overall. The slim hull shape, a feature pioneered and promoted by Silver Yachts with the help of Oeino, typically yields large gains in efficiency and therefore range. To offset the slim hull shape and relatively narrow beam, Oeino appears to have added a widened upper deck area with expansive windows facing aft, giving more onboard comfort to owner and guests.
The interior was designed by Dölker + Voges, a yacht design company headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. Dölker + Voges has provided exterior and interior design services for a range of megayachts, including the 143m S/Y A, 156m M/Y Dilbar, 124m Tatiana, 147m Topaz, 163m Eclipse and the 126m Octopus.
Norn is equipped with state-of-the art technology and engineering systems, including zero speed stabilisers, an outside cinema and a liftable pool floor with dance floor illumination. A dynamic positioning system enables electronic anchoring in sensitive and remote areas, protecting the seabed and allowing for safe mooring regardless of water depth.
The superyacht has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with a shallow draught, allowing exploration close to shore.
