Italian firm Cropelli has re-signed a partnership with Italian challenger Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli

Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and Cropelli renew partnership ahead of the 37th America's Cup 4

Italian firm Cropelli, which specialises in the production of moulds and components for the automotive, nautical, ecological and household sectors, has re-signed a partnership with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli for the America’s Cup 2024, to be held in Barcelona, Spain.

The firm also supported the Italian challenger in the 36th edition of the America’s Cup in Auckland in 2021.

The partnership signed in Cagliari grants the Palazzolo-based company, led by Elena Cropelli, the exclusivity to produce some components of the AC75. The parts supplied will include the wings and the rudder (the elements that allow the boat to rise above the water).

“We strongly wanted this partnership”, says Max Sirena, skipper and team director of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli. “Cropelli will provide our team with its skills and machinery, not only to produce the wing, but other high-precision components as well, becoming our operating arm for the America’s Cup.”

Elena Cropelli, head of Cropelli, adds: “This is a unique and very exciting experience, and very important as well, not only at a business level, but also for our professional and personal growth; from today we become fully part of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli project, and we share with the team part of the journey.”

The Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli America’s Cup team recently brought their brand-new AC40 out of its hangar in Cagliari, and gathered the team around for the christening ceremony.

Giulia Caponnetto, a longstanding member of the media team, was invited to smash the customary bottle of Champagne over the bow strut and named her Luna Rossa to cheers from the team below.

It was a clean hit and the bottle disintegrated – said to be a good sign when naming a yacht.
