CL Yachts, the yacht division of Hong Kong shipbuilder Cheoy Lee, has released renderings of the new CLX96, the latest motor yacht series to emerge from the yard.

CL Yachts refers to the CLX96 as a “Sea Activity Vehicle” or SAV

CL Yachts describes the new CLX96 as a “Sea Activity Vehicle”, playing on the “SUV” moniker used for one of the world’s most popular car types.

On the foredeck, enormous sunpads at the bow transfor into a giant, circular cocktail lounge area that would be perfect for drinks while at anchor.

Aft, there is a huge swim platform that extends and drops into the water, ensuring an easy way to deploy tenders and creating a large swimming and entertainment area.

The bridge deck and sky lounge area can be one open space, or separated by a glass partition.

In an unusual twist, the CLX96 sky deck features a set of sun loungers just forward of the bridge and helm station, creating what CL Yachts calls the “Terrazza Portoghese”.

On the main deck, massive floor-to-ceiling windows open up the interior, creating a sense of oneness with the ocean surroundings. The brilliant lighting extends to the lower decks, which house the master cabin and the guest cabins, as well as crew quarters for up to four people.

Jozeph Korakis worked on the design, while Earl Alfaro handled naval architecture and CL Yachts recruited Albert Horsmon, a leading marine structural engineer, to work on the CLX96.

The 29.5-metre yacht is to be powered by twin Cat C32 engines, and it is expected to have a top speed of 27 knots on a planing hull design. The CLX96 will have a cruising speed of 22 knots and a range of over 550 nautical miles at cruising speed. The hull is RINA certified and comes with a 10-year warranty.
