Catana Group will showcase a YOT 36 at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival
French catamaran builder Catana Group, which produces the Catana and Bali brands of sailing catamarans, have entered the power cat market with a new brand, YOT.
The YOT project began in 2020 with a new design for power cats that would retain traces of a sailing catamaran design. The aim was to produce a range of high-end power catamarans, with well-thought-out design and comfort, good seakeeping, good range, reasonable fuel consumption and the ability to appeal to as wide an audience as possible.
Catana Group set up a dedicated department within the group to work on design, research, production, sales, and marketing. “YOT is both a leap into a world where we’re going to have to make our mark, because the offer will be solid and tempting, but also onto a playing field in which we already have full legitimacy with our industrial know-how in terms of catamarans,” said Boris Compagnon, sales and marketing director for Catana Group.
The design and naval architecture were done by J&J Design, a 40-year veteran of yacht naval architecture. The company has recently been involved in electric yacht designs and is also behind the Saxdor line of adventure open boats.
In its announcement, Catana Group said that the YOT brand is aimed at “anyone seeking fun at sea aboard a boat.” Day cruises, sporty trips and romantic weekends are the focus of the new YOT brand, with plenty of focus on stable handling and plenty of space onboard.
Compagnon says that the first YOT 36 unit will be presented at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival.
