A four-day boat show with a focus on Beneteau powerboats and Highfield Tenders drew interest, says its host Simpson Marine
The Beneteau Power Days event took place from May 26 to 28 in Club Marina Cove in Sai Kung in Hong Kong’s New Territories, offering an impressive showcase of inboard and outboard vessels of different shapes and sizes.
The Grand Trawler 62 made its Asia premiere at the invitational boat show, which was organised by regional dealer Simpson Marine. Other models on display included the Flyer 8, Flyer 9, Antares 9, Gran Turismo 41 and the Monte Carlo 52, as well as a selection of Highfield Tenders.
Though Hong Kong’s boating scene has thrived in spite of Covid, both owners and industry professionals have really missed boat shows – the always-enjoyable ‘Swiss army knife’ of boating events that serve the purposes of education, treasure-hunting, showcasing and, for many boat enthusiasts, a chance to simply enjoy some excellent boats.
The event was built around the Beneteau Grand Trawler 62’s Asia debut. A 19m vessel with a hull beam of over 5.4m that can host six to eight people on board plus crew; it has a spacious and stylish interior that rivals that of larger yachts, and a galley that can be completely enclosed.
Carefully crafted by the team at Nauta Design, both the master bedroom and VIP guest cabins have a considerable amount of headroom, giving them a luxury-hotel suite-type feel. The combination of luxury and pragmatism makes the Trawler a fine choice as a Hong Kong family boat.

Bachelors and bachelorettes might prefer the sleek Highfield Boat Tenders from the US. Highfield Boats has quickly become one of the world’s top aluminium-hulled rigid inflatable boat (RIB) manufacturers.
The black SP760 at the event is as fast as a Jetski – but more durable – and stable, and has the ability to comfortably carry a group of four-to-five people. The Beneteau Flyer 9 also makes for a great day cruiser, and while it may not have the speed of a Tender, it makes up for additional space, elegance and a comfortable interior.

Also on display were the sporty-lined and high-performance new one-cabin Gran Turismo 41 and the popular Beneteau Antares 11 – a comfortable and stylish cruiser, also perfect for weekend getaways with family or day trips with friends. These are enjoyed across the Asia-Pacific and beyond, which unfortunately means potential customers may have to wait a while to get their hands on one, so be sure to plan your boat ownership well ahead.

“We were very happy to start holding events again in Hong Kong after almost five months of unusual pause due to the pandemic; it was great to display a whole range of Beneteau motorboats all together as we had clients visiting interested in all these models,” said Ewa Stachurska, Group marketing manager and head of strategic partnerships for Simpson Marine, who noted that the Grand Trawler impressed viewers with its elegant, voluminous interior and 1,000nm-range cruising capability.
“Marina Cove is the perfect place for such an intimate and welcoming event, and we are preparing more activities this summer to showcase other yachts from our portfolio to our customers and to meet them again in such a casual and friendly setting,” she added.
