Australia’s ‘Most Wanted’ Man Found Hiding on Indonesia-bound Yacht

Australia's most wanted man, Mark Horne, 32, who is accused of armed robbery, was found in the hull of a yacht bound for Indonesia.
A fugitive who was caught hiding in the hull of yacht in Australia has been arrested, accused of attempting to flee from the country after being on the run for three months.
Mark Horne, 32, who is accused of stealing AU$550,000 in an armed robbery, was marched through Sydney Airport on Tuesday surrounded by detectives. Horne — described in the media as Australia’s most wanted man — is said to have breached his bail three months ago after removing an electronic monitoring device.

He was eventually tracked to a yacht set to leave from Darwin’s Cullen Bay Marina, bound for Indonesia. Detectives found Horne in the hull of the yacht on 26 January, hiding under fuel and pipes. Police say the yacht was set to leave port that afternoon.
In a court hearing, Judge Christopher Craigie granted a detention application lodged by NSW Police. Horne appeared via video link. The court was told that, upon his arrest inside the yacht, police allegedly found money and documents and money to “further frustrate the administration of justice”.
Australia’s most wanted fugitive at the time, Horne was denied bail, given the “unacceptable” flight risk.
Police say further arrests in relation to the people alleged to have helped Horne are expected.
The next trial date is set for February 10.
