The new Nirup marina, under development for years, could offer as many as 70 new berths

Arthur Tay, chairman of One°15 Marina and chairman and CEO of SUTL Enterprises, announced that Nirup Island Marina would launch this July, during his remarks at the opening ceremony of the Singapore Yachting Festival. The prospect of a new marina should be welcome news to potential yacht clients in Singapore, where marina berths are now difficult to find.

Nirup Island is about eight nautical miles from Sentosa Cove, a relatively short distance for yacht owners. The island is in the western reaches of Indonesia’s Riau Islands, already a popular destination for Singaporeans. Images and video footage from 2019 show the completed marina basin and pilings, with yachts already at anchor.

Tay did not specify the actual launch date, but did mention that a launch party for Nirup Island marina was set for July 8.

Nirup Private Island has been in development for several years with the original developer PT Citra Buana Prakarsa, an Indonesian property developer. The marina facilities were to include Indonesia customs clearance.

SUTL Enterprise, owner of the One°15 brand, has long sought to establish more marina facilities in Indonesia.

In November 2020, SUTL announced that the Nirup Private Island marina would be operational in August 2021. The marina facility was to be under a 10-year management contract, which SUTL announced in 2018.

As of 2020, the marina was to offer 70 berths (including superyacht berthing and facilities), an integrated club house with multiple amenities on the land, hospitality and leisure comforts, and bunkering services.
