Luxury hotel chain Aman Resorts has announced details of Project Sama, a new luxury motor yacht with 50 suites that is due for delivery in 2025.
The 183-metre vessel has been designed in partnership with Netherlands-based firm Sinot Yacht Architecture and Design, and developed in a joint venture between Aman and Cruise Saudi. Aman promises to reflect the company’s “eastern heritage and design philosophy” in the vessel’s design, to create “a superyacht experience in a timeless yet contemporary vessel that has a harmonious balance between exterior and interior spaces.” The vessel will offer several dining options including an informal all-day restaurant and a relaxed club and lounge. Other amenities include an Aman Spa complete with a Japanese garden, two helipads and an expansive beach club, which will offer guests direct access to the water at the stern of the yacht.

Chairman and CEO of Aman, Vlad Doronin, says: “The announcement of Project Sama marks an exciting moment in Aman’s growth and evolution, as we not onIy continue to diversify our geographical portfolio on Iand, but also at sea, creating sanctuaries in unfrequented locations and continuing to reframe the concept of luxury hospitality.” Doronin says Project Sama will provide “transformative experiences” and offer service “which is unlike any other yacht experience, ultimately creating a whole new category in on-the-water discovery.”
Commenting on the partnership, Fawaz Farooqui, MD of Cruise Saudi says: “The signing of this partnership adds a new layer to Cruise Saudi’s offering, and is a testament to the unique tourism experience that is exploring Saudi by sea as well as demonstrating Cruise Saudi’s commitment to growing and expanding the cruise industry in Saudi. We aspire to further collaboration with Aman that will bring additional ultra-luxury experiences at sea.”
Project Sama is expected to launch in 2025 – the company says its official name will be announced in due course. Project Sama is the first cruise vessel of its kind for Aman. The company does however operate Amandira, a 52-metre twin-masted phinisi handcrafted from teak and hardwoods in Kalimantan, Indonesia. Amandira takes private charter guests on three distinct voyages throughout Indonesia. Guests can explore the legendary Spice Islands of the Banda Sea, Komodo National Park or the exceptional dive sites of Raja Ampat. There are three king cabins and two bunk bed cabins, accommodating up to 10 guests. Amandira’s crew of 14 includes a spa therapist, waiters and a private chef.
